STELLAR SMASH 2019

The Stellar Smash is a charity cricket match event we are holding for the third year running, since our partnership with Cure Kids began in 2016. We have made this an annual event to raise funds for Cure Kids. We will have former Black Caps playing, along with other New Zealand sport celebrities. Richie McCaw is a shareholder of Stellar and is passionate about giving back to the community, which is one of our core values and will also be taking part in the day.

Cure Kids' mission is a healthy childhood for everyone.  Their purpose is simple: Every single day, our researchers are driven to find the cures for serious health conditions that affect thousands of Kiwi kids.  As an organisation Cure Kids focuses on raising funds to enable high-impact medical research to find the cures our kids need.  The breadth of the work supported is wide; some of the projects include childhood cancers, inherited heart conditions, cystic fibrosis, sudden unexpected death in infants (SUDI), stillbirth, burns, and child and adolescent mental health, among many others. Cure Kids is the largest funder of research in New Zealand, outside of the government. 

Richie McCaw

Richie McCaw ONZ is a retired New Zealand rugby union player. He captained the national team; the All Blacks, in 110 out of his 148 test matches and won two Rugby World Cups. He is the most capped test rugby player of all time, and has won the World Rugby player of the year award a joint record three times.

Chris Harris

Chris Harris is a former New Zealand cricketer who became, over the course of the 1990s, a folk-hero in New Zealand cricket. A left-handed middle-order batsman and deliverer of right-arm slow-medium deliveries, Harris rescued the New Zealand team's batting on numerous occasions and his deceptive looping bowling often restricted the run rates of opposition batting line-ups.

Brendan Laney

Brendan Laney is a former professional rugby union player who represented Scotland, From Southland in New Zealand, he began his professional rugby career at full back for the Highlanders in the Super 12. Nicknamed "Chainsaw" for the way he cut through defences. Laney is now a rugby commentator for SKY Sport New Zealand.

Amy Satterthwaite

Amy Satterthwaite is a New Zealand cricketer and current captain of New Zealand's women team, currently plays for the Canterbury Magicians in the New Zealand State League and the Melbourne Renegades in the Australian Women's Big Bash League. She has played internationally for New Zealand in women's One Day Internationals (ODI) and women's Twenty20 Internationals (T20I) since 2007, appearing at the Women's Cricket World Cup in 2009 and 2013. On 26 February 2017 against Australia she became the first player in WODI and second overall after Kumar Sangakkara in ODI to score four consecutive hundreds.
